Mr. S.M. Jaffer’s long nurtured desire to set up an institution for imparting good quality education to all sections of society, materialized in the form of Little Friends School. Mr. S.M. Jaffer was the president of Lucknow University in the year 1941 to 1942.
Being a Freedom Fighter, he had a vision for his Motherland and spent his whole life in the service of his country in one way or another. His first job in free India was in the National Herald newspaper as a journalist. He joined this job on the insistence of his close friend Mr. Feroze Gandhi, husband of the late Prime Minister of India Shrimati Indira Gandhi. Mr. S.M. Jaffer was an eminent journalist and the general secretary of the U.P. Congress Committee. He also served two terms as a Member of The Legislative Council, U.P. in his last years he was the Secretary of the Shia degree College, Lucknow.
